Christmas cheer: The seven days of Mifid

Thursday 22 December 2011 - by Regulation Mutters

In the spirit of seasonal goodwill, the Mutterer has composed a Christmas carol with a regulatory twist. To be sung to the tune of the 12 days of Christmas. Unfortunately we got stuck at seven, but if you have any more suggestions, do send them through and we'll consider them.

The seven days of Mifid
On the first day of Mifid
My regulator gave to me
A comprehensive definition of OTC.

On the second day of Mifid
My regulator gave to me
Central clearing through a counterparty.

On the third day of Mifid
My regulator gave to me
Some pre and post trade transparency.

On the fourth day of Mifid
My regulator gave to me
OTFs - a new type of trading facility.

On the fifth day of Mifid
My regulator said to me
"We have the power to ban products temporarily."

On the sixth day of Mifid
My regulator gave to me
New rules on firms from a third country.

On the seventh day of Mifid
My regulator said to me
"Advice is to be paid for with a fee."
